The coowners of floral design company Bow and Arrows put their painting levels to operate in this boldly remodeled 1920s Dallas colonial. With a fashionable mix of play and utility that Alicia clarifies as horseplay, the pair has filled their home with a rainbow of colours and whimsical design. Adam designed a Southwestern-inspired stencil to your dining room walls, hand painting it in shades of purple and violet to create an ombré effect. The couple loves displaying fresh floral structures out of their job during their home.

The couple splurged on this quirky deer-head chandelier found via Craigslist. The fixture hangs over a snowy Ikea table surrounded by flea market chairs. Adam and Alicia painted the seat frames a glowing white but re-covered the head chairs in different fabrics to mix things up.

They painted this secondhand record player console a cheerful blue to contrast the walls. A group of art and sculpture sits on a colorful striped runner from New Mexico.

The vibrant purple dining area transitions to the new kitchen’s calming grey and white palette. The couple searched for months to come across this distinctive grey and white granite slab, and this has the beauty of marble and incredible durability.

Though the cool kitchen palette feels toned down from that of the remainder of the house, Alicia couldn’t resist bringing in color through accessories and dishware.

Dotty’s room bursts with art, including Adam’s hand-painted cross-stitch mural and work by local artists. The couple found a lot of the furniture at consignment shops. They personalized this thrift store rocking seat by painting it white and reupholstering the chair in a brand new, picture fabric.

Without having a plan or stencil, the couple painted this mural in their master bedroom. After picking out 11 colours, they painted five or six triangles each night till they’d covered the wall. The handmade quilt by Adam’s mother served as inspiration.

Following the couple added this master bathroom, Alicia found a restorer to rescue this antique claw-foot tub — the 1 thing in the house she states she can’t live without.

Custom built-in bookcases flank the fireplace, creating storage and symmetry. A bold mix of stripes, colors and patterns reflect the remainder of the property’s style. A huge map of New York City hangs over the fireplace, using a hub marking the place where the couple met.

“The colour palette has been the first thing that made our home feel such as ours,” says Alicia. Soft gray walls enabled the couple to use colour in this area: a glowing yellow front doorway, vibrant green curtains and peach painted logs in the fireplace. Art found at wineries in Brooklyn hangs alongside the front door.
